In response to the challenges faced by displaced persons from North-East Nigeria, the Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS) organised a Medical Mission to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp, Uhogua, Edo State, from 22 to 24 August 2016. The programme was held at the International Christian Centre, Uhogua Community, in Ovia East Local Government Area of Edo State. The camp hosts about 2,500 inmates, mostly children, who are predominantly displaced Christians from the North-East.
The mission provided an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ through compassionate medical care, humanitarian support, and the ministry of the Word to a vulnerable population.
The Medical Mission achieved the following outcomes:
i. A total of 658 cases were treated at the General and Eye Clinics.
ii. 62 eyeglasses for reading and sight were dispensed.
iii. Three general and eye surgeries were performed.
iv. A total of 23 laboratory tests were conducted.
v. Gospel tracts were distributed to the camp inmates.
vi. 200 copies of the New Testament Holy Bible were donated to the Camp Management.
vii. Food items, clothing, school materials, and drugs were donated.
viii. First Aid and Artificial Resuscitation training was conducted for camp officials.
We thank God for His grace and mercy throughout the mission, and we appreciate all partners and volunteers whose prayers, resources, and service made this outreach impactful and successful.
