The Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS) – NCGF Medical Mission Team conducted a medical and social outreach in the Utagba-Uno communities, Delta State, from 17 to 20 April 2019. The programme, tagged “Utagba-Uno Love Mission,” was held at Ndueze Primary School, Utagba-Uno.
The mission provided free surgical, general medical, ophthalmologic, and optometric services to restore freedom, hope, and life to the residents. The outreach also included soul-winning, one-on-one counselling, prayer sessions, and the distribution of gospel tracts and Holy Bibles. The mission coincided with the 70th birthday of our Chairman, Board of Trustees, AVTHS, Prof. Emman Osakwe, a retired professor of Delta State University, Abraka, and offered a special opportunity to minister to his home community.
The Medical Mission achieved the following outcomes:
i. A total of 491 cases were treated.
ii. 1 cataract eye surgery was performed.
iii. 7 general surgeries were performed.
iv. A total of 270 laboratory tests were conducted.
v. 92 eyeglasses were dispensed.
vi. 191 individuals made decisions for Christ.
vii. 452 Holy Bibles were distributed to new converts during the Birthday Thanksgiving Service.
viii. 10,000 gospel tracts were distributed to patients, churches, and groups for evangelism.
ix. 160 children were dewormed on 18 April 2019.
