The Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS) conducted a medical mission and evangelical outreach in Oko Ita, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, from 11 to 17 November 2018. The programme was organised to provide free medical services and spiritual revival in collaboration with the West African College of Surgeons, Medical Women Association of Akwa Ibom State, Ibiono Ibom Churches, and other partners.
This outreach provided an opportunity to minister holistically to the community by addressing physical, medical, and spiritual needs through healthcare services, counselling, surgeries, and evangelism.
The Medical Mission achieved the following outcomes:
i. A total of 2,119 patients were registered.
ii. 2,155 cases were treated.
iii. 12 gynaecological surgeries were performed.
iv. 29 eye surgeries were performed.
v. 73 general surgeries were performed.
vi. 498 patients were attended to by the Laboratory Department.
vii. A total of 1,081 laboratory tests were conducted.
viii. 17 voluntary blood donors participated.
ix. 832 patients were seen by the Eye Department.
x. 423 eyeglasses were dispensed.
xi. 1,186 patients collected medications from the pharmacy.
xii. 18 patients were attended to by the Dentist.
xiii. 5 tooth extractions were performed.
xiv. 110 individuals were screened for breast and cervical cancer.
xv. 1,652 patients received counselling services.
xvi. 999 individuals made decisions for Christ through counselling.
xvii. 34 people were ministered to by the prayer and deliverance team.
xviii. 233 ministers participated in the mission.
xix. 144 Holy Bibles were distributed to patients and mission agencies.
xx. 20,000 gospel tracts were distributed to patients and mission agencies for evangelism.
xxi. Clothing, school materials, and drugs were distributed to beneficiaries.
