The Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS), in collaboration with the Nigeria Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF), and in partnership with the Christian Pharmacists Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN), Operation Blessing (700 Club), and the National Fellowship of Christian Pharmacy Students (NFCPS), conducted the Ibesikpo–Asutan Medical Missions from 11 to 16 August 2024. The outreach provided medical care, surgical interventions, and the sharing of the gospel to the people of Ibesikpo–Asutan and surrounding communities.
Originally planned as a three-day programme, the mission was extended by an additional day due to the overwhelming turnout and critical health needs of the people. Volunteers served with dedication throughout, witnessing the hand of God and the spirit of unity among the partners.
The Medical Mission achieved the following outcomes:
i. A total of 1,318 patients were registered.
ii. 615 individuals made decisions for Christ.
iii. 43 tooth extractions were performed.
iv. 82 tooth scaling and polishing procedures were carried out.
v. 444 laboratory tests were conducted.
vi. 239 eyeglasses were dispensed.
vii. 126 eye surgeries were performed.
viii. 61 general surgeries were carried out, including herniorrhaphies, keloid removals, appendectomies, myomectomies (fibroid removals), lipoma excisions, and ovarian cyst removals.
We thank God for His mercy, the miracles witnessed, and the testimonies from patients who received sight-restoring and life-changing surgeries. Despite heavy rains during the period, God withheld the downpour until all critical procedures were completed inside the theatres, allowing the mission to run smoothly. Additional surgical cases were completed in Calabar after the outreach.
