The Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS), in collaboration with the Nigeria Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF), conducted the Mbano Medical Missions from 6 to 10 December 2023. The mission was designed to provide medical care and demonstrate the love of God to the people of Mbano and the surrounding communities.
The Board of Trustees, Executive Management Committee, AVTHS members, and NCGF express profound gratitude to God for the successful execution of the mission. Special appreciation is given to EL-Aged Care Centre GTE, Mbano, for their exceptional support and hospitality. The mission also highlighted the dedication and generosity of partners, volunteers, and community members.
The Medical Mission achieved the following outcomes:
i. A total of 584 patients were registered, including 171 males, 353 females, and 60 children.
ii. 406 patients received counselling services.
iii. 86 patients were attended to by the Medical Laboratory Department.
iv. 572 patients were attended to by the Ophthalmology/Optometry Department.
v. 501 patients received medications from the Pharmacy.
vi. A total of 105 eye surgeries were performed.
vii. 239 eye and reading glasses were dispensed.
viii. 144 individuals made decisions for Christ through devotional sessions and one-on-one counselling.
A major highlight of the mission was the restoration of sight to many patients who were blind or had severely impaired vision. The removal of eye coverings following surgeries brought great joy to patients and their families, and testimonies of restored sight continue to emerge.
