The Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS), in collaboration with well-meaning indigenes and the Uyo Local Government Council, conducted a free medical and social service mission for residents of the Obio Etoi communities, Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria, from 1 to 5 November 2021.
The mission provided an opportunity to minister holistically to the community by combining healthcare services, surgeries, counselling, evangelism, and the distribution of welfare materials, demonstrating God’s love in practical ways.
The Medical Mission achieved the following outcomes:
i. A total of 1,556 cases were treated.
ii. 108 cataract eye surgeries were performed.
iii. 91 general and gynaecological surgeries were conducted.
iv. A total of 735 laboratory tests were carried out.
v. 306 reading glasses and lenses were dispensed.
vi. 446 individuals made decisions for Christ.
vii. 100 Holy Bibles were distributed to new converts.
viii. 41,000 gospel tracts were distributed to patients and churches/groups for evangelism.
